Switchable Polarity Pattern Condensor Microphones

Here’s an important fact for you when you go out to purchase mics for your home studio. Some condenser mics (at least one is a must have for any home studio) give you the ability to switch between two and sometimes three polarity patterns. The mics that can do this have two sets of diaphragms and mackplates, one facing to the front and the other facing to the back. Typically there is a micro-switch on the body of the mic itself with symbols on the positions of the switch, indicating the polarity pattern selected. These mics are typically large diaphragm condenser mics.
