Recording Nylon String Guitars

It's OK for the guitarist to use a pick on a classical, or Nylon string guitar if you are doing a session that calls for the 'Spanish' sound and the guitarist is really not a classically trained guitarist. The one thing you will need to watch out for are the 'transients', or pitchless sttack sounds that stem form the pick striking the strings. Two things that the guitarist can do that will help: 1) have the guitarist concentrate on right hand technique and reduce the attack with the pick, or 2) have the guitarist use a felt or leather-covered pick.
