Built In Preamps

Built In Preamps. Before you run out to buy the right type of pre-amp for the music that you are recording, take a minute and read the owner’s manual for the mixer that you are using. Most mixers today – even those on the lower end of the cost spectrum – have some type of pre-amp already in them. This includes most Analog-to-Digital interfaces, commonly referred to as A/D devices. In most cases, the pre-amp that came inside of your mixer or A/D device will work well enough to get the job done, but won’t sound as good as some of the better external Mic Pre’s on the market today.
