When
recording a nylon string guitar, you will need to get used
to the fact that because the volumes of this guitar is substantially
lower than its steel string cousin, the mic levels in the
room need to be a lot hotter. This means that as well as picking
up the sounds of the guitar, the mic is going to pick up the
sound of breathing, the rustle of clothing, etc. Prior to
the session, have the guitarist practice controlling his or
her breathing and be sure they wear clothing that doesn't
make any noise.
