Digital/Tube Preamps. The third type of Mic Pre-Amps available today are the
Hybrid Mic Pre’s, containing elements of both the solid state and the tube pre
amps. Most of the inexpensive “tube” pre-amps that you see in the market today
are actually hybrids. These Mic pre’s are designed to give the purchaser the cheaper
cost of the solid state technology while preserving the ability of the end user
to ‘color’ the sound as he/she sees fit.
